What goes better with reading stories to your children than the incentive of a library Summer Reading program, and a mom with a good book ? Fun times, indeed. The kids and I were out and about today, and we stopped at a library among other places. I found two books there, that I checked out. I remember that we read one of these books in the past, and it was a good reminder to look into how many are in the series. There are five books in the Lighthouse Family series of books. They're basically all adventure stories near the light house, among a group of animals that are personified as people. Adorable stories.
The author is Cynthia Rylant, who has written other book series, also. Henry and Mudge for example. Getting back to the Lighthouse Series, the five books include; The Storm, The Whale, The Turtle, The Eagle, and The Octopus. The recommended reading age range is 7 - 10. They're very small paperbacks, with just under 50 pages per book. You can see the book covers, though they don't have a review, right here at this website. Don't forget to go to the bookstores. Borders, Barnes & Noble, Books A Million, and others have summer reading programs. You get a free book after you have read a certain number of books. You can find a list of programs here:
