VIRTUAL SURGERY

Age Range: 7-17 (Activities are designed for various grade levels from 2-12. Parental supervision is required.)
This website offers free, colorful and engaging educational animations designed for teachers and students that explain how things work.
The Ed Head website is a gem. It's an interactive site for pretty much all ages to explore.  It does have some very graphic content, so having  a parent preview the content before your child does is probably a wise idea.  See what you are comfortable with.
*Design a Cell Phone - Help an engineer design and manufacture a cell phone.
*Deep Brain Stimulation - Assist a brain surgeon to correct a patient's movement disorder.
*Crash Scene - Recreate a crash scene by examining evidence and calculating forces with the highway patrol.
*Virtual Hip Replacement - Become a surgeon and replace a patient's hip.
*Weather - Discover how to predict and report the weather.
*Simple Machines - Learn how simple and compound machines work.
Each animation is narrated (so turn on your speakers) and comes with a "Teachers Guide" that provides the recommended grade level, tips for using the animation in the classroom (that can be tweaked for home education), printable activities, state and national standards, as well as tests and answers.
