I love our little local library. The children's librarian is amazing; she's so good with the kids and she's always looking out for educational topics to have, supporting the kids in town. More than a few times, she's ordered resources for the homeschool community. Well, the other day a book caught my eye, A Wizard from the Start. It's about Thomas Edison and his entire childhood. It's a short story for young kids, so I enjoyed sitting on the sofa with the kids and reading it all together.
On page five, the story tells of Thomas' teacher telling his mother that Tom's daydreaming was so bad because he was stupid. Well, mom wasn't having any of that, so she pulled him out of school and homeschooled him ! We know the rest of that story; the extremely intelligent Edison went on to invent over 1,000 inventions in his life. The last sentence states, "Afterward, she [mom] schooled Tom herself at home."
It's an educational story, and was just published in 2010. Check it out - your homeschooled children will get a big chuckle out of this inspiring story !

OH I have to get that book!
Yeah, it's really good. I love libraries; you can check their books out and if you like them enough to buy them, they've been pre-screened! Saves money over buying a book you're not wild about.
Not in our library. checked today. Bummer. But I did get that book about dyslexia, so very fortunate to have m,et your friend who suggested it. Anyway, Edison is on the Noted Dyslexics page.
