Tonight, two of my girls and I were playing a game I'm sure you've heard of - or you have at your home, too; Boggle. Now that our homeschooling is done for the year, and we switch gears for summertime fun with all of our friends and family, it reminds me of a favorite past time. We so enjoy playing card and board games.
The kids have even planned some old fashioned Game Nights with a group of their friends. No hi-tech nuttin'. Just pizza, all sorts of indoor/outdoor games, a bonfire and good fun.
Our home is one of those places where Other Kids end up hanging out, so it's helpful for us to keep a stash of game ideas for outdoor play, too. Here are some fun ideas that you may already have as favorites: http://health.kaboose.com/active-kids/games.html

Don't forget some other old stand-bys such as Red Light, Green Light, Hopscotch, as well as making outdoor fairy houses or building a fort with clothespins, old sheets and lightweight blankets. It's a great place to have some cold drinks and snacks, if not a picnic lunch.
We also take advantage of the wide variety of summer library programs in area towns. A number of indoor movie theaters offer FREE summertime movies. http://www.ravemotionpictures.com/freefamilyfilmfestival.aspx
We also take advantage of free bowling games, too ! http://www.kidsbowlfree.com
It may seem too good to be true to have free movies and bowling, but it is true. We've been attending these events with friends for years now. We spend time with them at area parks and have a picnic, too, which is also free.
And on that note, I'm off. The girls and I going to play a favorite game, Boggle ! If you look on the walls, you'll see that they're waiting for me to get off the computer ~ in our homeschool room ! Enjoy your summer, folks !
